Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born 26 March 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, with the release of her independent single Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was a member of the Dreamville crew at the time would like to see her work on Rihanna reference. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. On the 21st of October in 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she opted to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream of the album came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13, she released two additional singles called One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, which was then released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. The song was followed by the release of a music video in February 20, 2019, and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within just a week. In December 2018 she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
